October Mail

The Pink Mail is ready to go up to the show in Sacramento and it’s time to organize all the other mail art and Halloween greetings that I received in October.  Some of the highlights include:
  1. “Urban Accessories” from Fleur Helsingor.
  2. I may have to go out in the neighborhood and see if I spot Sally Wassink if this Halloween postcrad is any indication of the wild costume she might be wearing.
  3. I love Sutro Tower and adore this zine I received from Julie Crossman as well as the Halloween Witch powder.
  4. Marina Salmaso sent me this very pop-art collage from Denmark.
  5. An altered postcard with a hand-stitched stamp arrived from Angela Behrendt in Germany.
  6. Torma Cauli’s latest card from Hungary.
  7. New prints came from Serse Luigetti.
  8. A collaged art card from Skooter Fein.
  9. Halloween greetings from Jennifer Utter.
  10. And finally, Halloween mail art from Dori Singh.

Thanks for all the great stuff, now time for me to get back to painting and gluing.

Pink Week 2015

I discovered Pink Week back in 2006 when I was focused on using old maps in my art.  With all the pink bits in maps, it was a natural fit and one of my pieces was included in the show that year.  I have participated in other Pink Week shows and events since.  2015 marks the 22nd Annual Pink Week.  There will be two shows in Sacramento this year, both held at WAL (see below).  Four of my new, and very pink, collagescapes will be included in the Pink Week Show.  At the same time I have received over 200 pieces of pink mail art for the companion Pink Mail Art Show.   You can preview the mail art here.

The Pink Week Show and the Pink Mail Art will be shown at:

1108 R Street in Sacramento
November 13 – December 10, 2015
There is an opening reception on Saturday, November 14 from 6-9 pm.

Squirrels in the Mail

In September I responded to Connie Jean’s call for squirrel-themed mail art.  A squirrel painting based on a photo I took of one of those aggressive little snack stealers in Golden Gate Park.  This week I received a fun packet of squirrelness from the Squirrel Museum in Cocoa Beach Florida.
